Technology (e.g. robotics, assistive technology, mHealth)
Clinical Practice (assessment, diagnosis, treatment, knowledge translation/EBP, implementation science, program development)
We will explore the issues related to technology usage and under-usage to develop strategies that support "disruptive innovation" in virtual reality via examples including the participatory design to create 3D printed instrumented eating utensils that track self-feeding difficulties of children with cerebral palsy, the design of immersive virtual environments to improve motor abilities of children with developmental coordination disorder and how complex virtual visual environments has significantly altered treatment interventions for individuals with dizziness due to vestibular dysfunction. The symposium will conclude with a discussion of ways in which VR technology can be realistically incorporated into clinical settings.
