The growing number of cancer survivors has created a shortage in the workforce needed to provide high quality cancer care. Cancer uniquely impact body structure and function with side effects varied based on the treatment delivered. Additionally the psychological and social factors associated with cancer treatment require that providers are equipped with a unique body of knowledge, skills and abilities. In order to provide proper education for professionals treating patients with a diagnosis of cancer, we need to establish core competencies. We will discuss the results of a National Delphi Study regarding these competencies.
