One of the key risk factors for impairment in skin integrity and the development of pressure ulcers/injury is the exposure of skin to urinary incontinence. This presentation will identify definitions, risk factors, and a comprehensive assessment process that leads to individualized interventions to improve quality of care. Join us for this highly engaging presentation that will include a roundtable discussion for sharing of best practices.
Participants will learn to identify the difference between moisture-induced dermatitis and partial thickness pressure ulcer/injury; describe prevention and treatment strategies for incontinent patients and residents; and define documentation necessary to substantiate a comprehensive assessment, individualized care planning, implementation of interventions, and ongoing monitoring for quality and compliance.
