TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program that provides academic assistance to first-generation college students, students from low-income families, and students with disabilities. In the summer of 2016, Lane Library established a new liaison relationship with TRIO Student Support Services on the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University. The TRIO liaison serves as the point of contact for students by providing specialized workshops throughout the year. Utilizing this model allows the librarian to address important information literacy proficiencies that fall through the cracks of the standard research assignment preparation, and reach students on a more personal level. During this poster session, handouts will be provided with examples of each interactive class offered for TRIO students. The library liaison for this program will also discuss the benefits of partnering with other departments on campus and provide tips on how to reach a diverse group of students.
