In Spring 2018, the School of Business participated in a space study that examined how the academic space was used and could be optimized. As a result of this space study, part of the Business Library's space may be relocated and/or re-purposed. To best understand how users engaged with the library, library staff designed and implemented a space audit for Fall 2018, measuring when people used the library, where they were sitting, and what they were doing (computing, individual study, reading, collaboration, etc.). This poster will discuss our data collection strategy, findings, and usage visualization, which was produced in collaboration with the Business Analytics team as a Tableau dashboard. We will also reveal upcoming phases in this process, which include promoting business technology in previously underutilized spaces, surveying users about rationale for using a particular room and/or seat, and conducting focus groups with library users and non-users (including faculty) to ensure that the library meets their varied needs.
