The Kennesaw State University Library System actively supports professional development, guided by the work of two committees: one focused on all library employees and the other focused on library faculty. The All-Staff Professional Development Committee coordinates training and professional development pertaining to all library system employees. The role of the committee has expanded since its creation to include the coordination of robust on-boarding and mentoring programs for new employees. Through evaluation and feedback, the committee has continued to redevelop the program to better serve all employees in our library community so they can be successful in their roles. This poster will share the impact and the pros and cons of the professional growth and development within our organization. The session will also showcase the library system’s new employee checklist, mentoring program guidelines, and examples of professional development activities which can be used by other libraries as inspiration to develop their own program.
