Annual Conference Session
Libraries Foster Community Engagement Membership Initiative Group provides an opportunity to learn and talk about the work of library-led community engagement and the latest developments. It serves as a community of practice where participants share experiences facilitating public forums, fostering community and civic engagement, and leading change in communities.
Participants learn about professional development opportunities and library experiences related to convening, dialogue facilitation, forum moderation, deliberative dialogue and local partnerships to help communities understand issues of common concern and solve problems together. Those trained through Libraries Transform Communities initiatives are encouraged to attend and learn from each other.
The MIG welcomes participation by anyone interested in engaging school, campus, and local communities. Notes from sessions are posted on ALA Connect. Agendas and other information are distributed through that site, and through the "deliberate" list serv.
