Annual Conference Session
To provide a forum within MAGIRT and ALA highlighting current and relevant issues, applications, and practices relating to emerging geographic information sciences and technologies. The Committee seeks to address the questions, opportunities, and challenges around such emerging technologies through the creation of high-quality and tangible outputs that will benefit the larger geospatial library community. Here is a list of presentations:
1. Joy Suh, GIS and Geography Liaison Librarian at George Mason University
Presentation title: ArcGIS Story Map Project: A collaborative teamwork within the Libraries.
2. Tsering Wangyal Shawa, Head, Map and Geospatial Information Center, Princeton University
Presentation title: Princeton at the turn of the 20th Century
The project explores methodology and workflows of spatially linking the United States historical population census data to individual houses located in an urban areas as well as in a rural area.
Presentation title: Extracting Geospatial Data from maps
Method and workflow of extracting geographic data from scanned historical maps.
