South Carolina State Library- Talking Book Services
Kaitlyn has been working at the State Library since October 2014 in the Talking Book Services Department, a regional library for the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled. Since then, she has completed her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina in 2017. In addition to this degree, she also has a Master’s degree in Southern Studies (2013) from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor’s in Political Science (2011) from Presbyterian College. She also completed the Associate Public Manager program in 2015 and the Harwood Public Innovator Lab for Libraries training in 2018. Currently, she serves on 2 Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) committees and is also a participant in the 2018-2019 Association of Specialized, Government, and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASGCLA) Mentoring Program and the 2019 ALA Emerging Leaders Program.
As an employee of Talking Book Services, she has created and implemented multiple note-worthy projects and programs which include the TBS Assistive Technology Petting Zoo, InSIghts into Blindness, a training meant to educated librarians as well as the general public on issues of accessibility and inclusion, and Led By Love: Michael Hingson, Thunder Dog, and Getting Out of the Twin Towers Alive, an author talk with Michael Hingson, author of Thunder Dog.
