Matt Lyttle is the Acting Deputy Director of the FEMA Individual and Community Preparedness Division. In this role, he works to engage local stakeholders, regional agencies, and national partners in various preparedness initiatives. He acts as the lead implementor of FEMA’s Strategic Plan objective to Help People Prepare for Disasters. Programs under his purview include the National CERT Program, Youth Preparedness, and You Are the Help Until Help Arrives.
Mr. Lyttle is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served from 2008 to 2010 in the northern mountains of Nicaragua. His interest in community development and disaster resiliency began while working with rural villages that had yet to recover from Hurricane Mitch a decade earlier.
