Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson represents the Eighth District of Los Angeles proudly representing over 248,000 people including the highest concentration of African Americans in the city. Councilmember Harris-Dawson supports policies that combat homelessness, create quality jobs, clean streets, and encourage community policing.
As the former President Community Coalition he brings an organizer’s perspective to City government and continues to advocate for communities.
Marqueece received a BA from Morehouse College and has numerous commendations and awards including the coveted Do Something “BRICK” Award, the NAACP Man of Valor Award, Durfee Foundation’s Stanton Fellowship and Liberty Hill Foundation’s Upton Sinclair Award.
