Kemba has spoken nationally and internationally about the devastating social, economic and political consequences of current drug policies. She has testified before Congress and the United Nations regarding a variety of criminal justice issues including crack cocaine sentencing, mandatory drug sentencing, women and mass incarceration, felony disenfranchisement, and re-entry. It is Kemba Smith’s hope to uplift communities and inspire the nation to become educated about certain injustices within the criminal justice system while continuing the legacy of women leaders in the struggle for social reform.
