A cohort of selected high school students from the DMV area will attend the National Town Hall, the kickoff event of the conference that features members of the Congressional Black Caucus, political figures, public intellectuals and celebrated leaders of the black community. Following this lively discussion, the invited students will be offered a brown bag lunch and will participate in the Avoice Student workshop to learn about our online exhibits and participate in an interactive workshop on the U.S. Census 2020. The workshop will educate students on the importance of black turnout in the census and the historical realities of undercounting black people in voting, political representation, and resource distribution. CBCF, in partnership with Faircount.org, will also announce their Census 2020 initiative to increase Black and LatinX turnout.
