Hot Topic! Preventing Harm through the Practice of Respect #5027 (1.00 CH)
Discuss the institutional elements that form the foundation supporting this Practice of Respect, and share strategies to build those institutional elements. We have found that this innovative approach aimed at understanding the patient experience provides complementary but uniquely different information than patient satisfaction surveys. We will present several case examples including the root cause analyses for preventable emotional harm from disrespect and the associated organizational initiatives to improve the patient experience and to minimize this oft neglected preventable harm. This session will provide nurses with an additional innovative strategy for prioritizing targeted initiatives to improve the patient experience.
