Joy Don Baker, PhD, RN-BC, CNOR, CNE, NEA-BC, FAAN currently teaches Evidence-based Practice in the MSN program at The University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Baker also operates her own consulting service providing administrative, assessment, planning, and research consulting. Dr. Baker has served national AORN as board member and vice president. She has served as the AORN State Coordinator for Texas and Region V AORN Nursing Legislative Committee Coordinator. She serves on the North Texas Regional Team: "advancing heath through Nursing" as a Nurse Educator representative for the BSN or Higher Degree. Dr. Baker is an accomplished author and presenter. She is one of the founders/authors of the Baker & Goodman Nurseketeers series of women's fiction. She has served as a national speaker for the AORN Surgical Conference and Expo on a variety of topics. In 2013, she was an invited speaker at the VPNG Conference in Melbourne, Australia and in 2002; she was the keynote speaker for the Japanese Operating Nursing Academy Annual Congress in Chiba, Japan. Dr. Baker holds certifications in Informatics, Executive Nursing Administration, Education, and Perioperative Nursing.
