Mgr, Quality and Patient Safety
Ellen Jeanne Evans, MN, MPH, RN, CPHQ, has been in the health care field for almost 40 years. She started out as a nursing assistant in a family-owned nursing home in a small town in Iowa. As a teenager taking care of elderly townsfolk, she was provided no orientation or competency to care for them. Then when she became a nurse, she clearly began to understand the value of orientation and competency assessment. Her nursing career was heavily focused on medical-surgical, oncology, and critical care nursing. She has worked in the quality arena for over 17 years and believes strongly in data to support initiatives, checklists, and standardization of practice. Ellen has three certifications in Health Care Quality, Joint Commission Professional, and as a professional in Patient Safety. She has presented at national meetings for AORN, Academy of Medical - Surgical Nurses, and NAHQ. No conflict.
