Paula R. Graling, DNP, RN, CNOR, CNS, FAAN, has been a perioperative nurse for over 35 years. She received her BSN and MSN from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and her doctoral degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, with an emphasis on perioperative patient safety. Paula is the AVP and chief nursing officer of perioperative services at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia. She has authored several articles and textbook chapters pertaining to perioperative care and nursing practice, and has widely lectured on perioperative nursing topics. She served on the AORN Board of directors, as President of AORN 2006-2007, and is currently serving on the AORN Foundation Board. No conflict.
