Gail M. Horvath, MSN, RN, CNOR, CRCST, is a patient safety analyst/consultant who works with the ECRI Institute Patient Safety Organization and Insight Assessment Services. Gail has over 30 years' experience in acute care, including critical care and surgical nursing, quality, risk, and patient safety. Before coming to ECRI Institute, Gail was the perioperative educator for a level one trauma center performing over 13,000 surgical cases annually. Each role included active participation in organizational patient safety committees, as well as chairing the QA/PI committee for all perioperative services. Gail's experience includes development of a surgical quality improvement program that included perioperative patient safety. Gail is also adjunct faculty at Drexel University where she teaches quality and safety in health care in the graduate School of Nursing. No conflict.
