John E. Eiland, MSN, RN is the Senior Research Associate for Ofstead & Associates. In addition to assisting with designing and conducting real world research studies, he brings his expertise in risk management and infection control while conducting site audits. He has collaborated on multiple national presentations and peer reviewed manuscripts such as AORN, AJIC and CHEST. Eiland has served as a co-investigator and author for several studies related to reprocessing effectiveness for colonoscopes, gastroscopes, bronchoscopes, and ureteroscopes. He has more than 40 years of healthcare experience in military and civilian hospitals. Eiland was formerly a Hospital Surveyor with the Joint Commission. He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with over 20 years' experience in the Army Nurse Corps working throughout the Department of Surgery, infection prevention, and risk management and quality. Eiland retired from the Army as the Chief of Clinical Services for the Department of Surgery at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.
