Angela Vassallo, MPH, MS, CIC, FAPIC, is a nationally recognized expert in infection prevention and epidemiology. She currently works for Health Services Advisory Group, Inc. (HSAG) leading a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) funded project for California's Ambulatory Surgery Centers. It is the first-ever project working to improve infection prevention practices and reduce surgical site infections in outpatient surgery centers in the USA. Prior to working with HSAG, she was director of infection prevention/epidemiology at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California. She continues to consult with Saint John's and serves as a board member of Saint John's Foundation's Irene Dunne Guild. Angela is also a professor at West Coast University in Los Angeles and Providence University in Great Falls, Montana. She helped create the first Master's program in infection prevention at Providence University in 2016. She enjoys mentoring future leaders in infection prevention and holds many national, state, and local leadership roles. She is chair of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology's (APIC) national communications committee and past-president of California APIC and Greater Los Angeles APIC chapters. She is as an expert infection prevention consultant for BD and is a founding member of Expert Stewardship, Inc. She was nominated Healthcare Manager of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2014. No conflict.
