Describe outbreaks associated with high-level disinfection (HLD) and how to avoid them in your health care facility. Learn to improve HLD activities using a scored checklist based on national guidelines, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Infection Control Worksheet, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) ST91, the Multisociety Guideline on Reprocessing Flexible GI Endoscopes (2016 update), and the AORN Guideline for Processing Flexible Endoscopes. Data from scored surveys using this checklist will be reviewed and discussed. This presentation will guide the OR nurse towards actions they may take now and and encourages nurses to implement strategies to ensure the safety of the patient.
