There have been recent changes to the survey process, particularly related to the first-time infractions of the Joint Commission standards that are observed. You will learn the current survey process related to the OR, sections performed in OB areas, GI Lab and other interventional areas. You will also have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions regarding problems you have heard about, such as methods for preclearing instrument in the OR.

Learning Objectives:

• Discuss the latest findings in cognitive and behavior science on improvement efforts.
• Identify what surgeons really want and how to best engage them in getting it.
• Learn how to use your existing data to identify detailed, specific improvement pathways.
• Determine the best approach to communicating with surgeons to “nudge” them toward better performance.
