Learners will be guided through the development of a 'Code Omega' Massive Hemorrhage Protocol (MHP) that includes building a multidisciplinary response team, identifying assessment criteria, modeling evidence-informed blood component dosing, utilizing antidotes, and implementing debriefing practices. Front-line staff responsible for initiating and implementing a MHP, educators who would disseminate knowledge to interprofessional teams, and leaders who would champion change and build corporate support will all learn through the sharing of case studies and lessons learned about the challenges and successes of implementing a MHP. Unique and necessary considerations for creating an MHP are required. Resources that can link the rural community hospital to larger centers will be shared. Participants will be able to discuss the process of building an MHP program and ways to standardize MHP across the health care setting.
