Sterilization in health care organizations is an important infection prevention topic that is becoming increasingly complex due, in part, to advances in technology and complexity of reusable medical devices. Evidence-based updates to AORN Guideline for Sterilization will be reviewed, including an introduction to the two new recommendations in this revision. These new recommendations are about leadership and environmental responsibility. The remainder of the guideline has been reorganized and updated with most current evidence.
