Mentoring is important—we all know that. So why do we hesitate? Perhaps we’re thinking about traditional, one-way knowledge transfer. What if we shift the model to something new? Explore new mentoring models like micro-mentoring, group mentoring, and cross mentoring—models that provide benefit to mentee and mentor alike.

Learning Objectives:

• Increase cross-generational communication and collaboration to challenge generational stereotypes by highlighting the underlying values all generations of perioperative nurses share.
• Explore the necessity of mentoring, especially given its importance in terms of outcomes and events, as it relates to the engagement and retention of nurses.
• Review traditional views of mentoring to reveal new mentoring models that work for all generations to the benefit of both mentors and mentees.
