Professional Educator, Perioperative Certificate of Mastery (PEP COM) (6.50 CH)
The need to provide efficient and effective patient care has never been more acutely felt. A key person in the provision of safe patient care is the nurse educator, who assists staff in achieving a safe level of practice by providing education and developing the tools and methodology for assessing competence. The traditional “teaching” function has been expanded to include a leadership role in the facility’s organizational structure. As a result, strong facilitation and collaboration skills must be developed. In addition, the surgical services educator serves as an important role model in accessing and interpreting the most current evidence-based literature and applying it to the clinical setting.
