555 - Expanding Rural College Readiness through AP, Civics, & Computer Science

K-12 educators and students will describe how AP courses such as AP U.S. Government and Politics and AP Computer Science Principles can increase levels of college readiness, civic engagement, digital literacy, and computer science expertise in the over 10,000 small town and rural school districts across the country. The presenters will also show how the new resources and supports coming to AP classrooms in the fall will support this work and describe the network of organizations that have partnered with the College Board to reach more students and schools.

Learning Objectives:

• how AP U.S. Government & Politics and AP Computer Science Principles may help rural schools meet state mandates to provide civics, government, or computer science courses.
• how to access free resources, tools, and curriculum supports from civics- and computer science-focused partner organizations.
• how educators in small towns and rural areas can best utilize supports and resources coming to AP.
