AP Annual Conference Submission
Learn how we developed "AP for all." Plymouth (Mass) South High School is a comprehensive school with 50% of our students enrolled in a technical course of study. It is our belief that all students should experience an AP class before leaving high school. The skills learned through these classes are invaluable. We have used an authentic and grass roots approach to increase the numbers of students in our AP program. The results show a notable increase in achievement by students (low income, technical students, etc.) Data will be shared that demonstrates the work we have accomplished. The most notable part of the process is the increased enrollment that occurred by initiating incentive programs, sending teachers to summer training, picking the right teachers, and ensuring that there are no prerequisites for an AP course. The teachers have embraced this philosophy to create an academically-driven school culture for all of our academic and technical studies students.
