In this presentation, we explore how automated writing evaluation tools can support and enhance instruction in AP humanities courses. Through the use of Revision Assistant, AP teachers have increased writing practice, student self-reflection, and engagement with feedback. As a result of automated formative feedback, students draft more and practice core AP concepts more often. Teachers receive more meaningful formative data about student progress and are able to quickly and effectively target their own feedback to students. This session will be a hands-on workshop in which an AP teacher and members of the Revision Assistant team will work through AP grading exercises with the audience and then demonstrate how automated formative feedback, when thoughtfully implemented, can assist teachers in the classroom.
