All AP Courses require students to process large quantities of information through nonfiction reading in a short period of time. However, not every student who has the ambition to sign up for an AP course has developed the literacy tools and strategies needed to be successful in this learning environment. What can be done to help these bright but unprepared students find success in AP? Learn how to teach reading, note taking, and studying strategies to transform your students' literacy skills. This session will present ready to use strategies that are grounded in neuroscience and can fit seamlessly into your current pedagogy. Participants will leave with tools that will increase their students learning comprehension, speed, and retention. This will increase the quality of class time, improve test scores, and prepare students to be successful when they enter transition to college classes.
