Teachers are part of a broader community but work in their own individual contexts – different schools, different students, different styles. In order to address the needs of AP teachers working as individuals while also developing and leveraging the strengths of the community, we piloted two programs as part of our support for AP teachers: instructional coaching and regional teacher meetings. As pilot programs with encouraging results so far, we want to share what we have learned with others who are interested in developing programs that can have a significant impact on classroom instruction, teacher leadership, and teacher community. We’ll discuss how we structured and implemented these programs, along with what worked and what didn’t, areas for improvement, and data from teacher surveys about their experiences in both programs.
