Riverside is a comprehensive High School located in Durham, NC that serves a diverse population of students in a high needs district. Knowing that teaching quality affects all students regardless of circumstances, implementing a professional learning team model has allowed us to be able to systematically increase the quality of teaching and learning in AP courses, address unique student needs, see a positive trend in student achievement, and grow our AP program. This session is focusing on it’s use with a team of AP teachers spanning across content areas. We will provide a look at the process used to create and manage an AP PLT effectively. This includes utilizing current data to set goals, supplying planning tools, collaborating with other teams, implementing common instructional practices, recruiting and retaining students of color, and providing coaching and feedback based on teacher needs.
