AP® Capstone - AP Seminar
AP Annual Conference Submission
“Being right” and “winning” have the tendency to superseded facts, listening, and evolution of thought in our classrooms and beyond. While activities such as debate are effective in engaging students, it is important for students to learn the value of engaging in dialogue to progress thought and evolve ideology. We will look at strategies for building an activity that provides an opportunity for our students to engage in intellectual, open conversation that considers issues from multiple perspectives. We will look at an example unit that models this process and discuss strategies for engaging struggling learners and students from a variety of demographics (including various socio-economic backgrounds).
