This panel will explore how teachers are working with Harvard Business School’s Case Method Project to teach topics related to the history of our democracy in their AP US History courses. The Project turns historical case studies into powerful teaching tools and is currently partnering with over 200 high school teachers across 25 states. This highly immersive, discussion-based teaching methodology puts students in the shoes of historical figures on the verge of making big decisions at key moments in American History. Two AP US History teachers will talk with participants about how they have worked with the Project to bring case method teaching to their courses. They will discuss how they have incorporated the rigorous case studies into their curriculum, challenging their students and supporting them as they access – and engage with – these college level texts, and hone their critical thinking and evidence-based argumentation skills in student-driven case discussions.
