Do you often comment to your colleagues that your students all arrive in your classroom with excellent writing habits and the ability to regularly leverage complex syntax to create compelling historical arguments? If so, this is not the session for you. This session is aimed at helping the many history teachers who want to help students improve their writing, but have difficulty finding the class time to do so. The Pre-AP World History and Geography course includes high-impact strategies developed by The Writing Revolution, Inc., a national nonprofit dedicated to training teachers to implement an evidence-based writing techniques. These approaches also promote historical thinking and content retention. In this session, presenters from both The Writing Revolution and the Pre-AP World History and Geography content team will model techniques that turn even short exercises into powerful writing tools that challenge students to question, write, and think like historians.
