This session aims at providing instructional strategies to promote active learning in a flipped online AP Chinese course. The session will include formal presentation and small group activities. The presenters will showcase the flipped classroom model “2+1+2” with various instructional strategies and technology tools used in an AP online Chinese course offered by an institution from a Midwest U.S. university. The presenters will highlight and demonstrate the incorporation of active learning in the weekly synchronous and asynchronous online AP Chinese classes through three categories of active learning online: individual learning, cooperative learning and collaborative learning. Participants will be assigned into small groups based on different suggested active learning activities and design their own activities. Followed by whole group sharing and reflection on Palet, participants will be able to have concrete strategies and activities to engage their students in active learning.
