AP Annual Conference Submission
This fall, updated AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design, and AP Drawing portfolio requirements and assessment rubrics will be implemented to facilitate students’ inquiry-based thinking and making. Portfolio development will emphasize sustained investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision guided by questions; skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas; and articulation of information about the portfolio work. The Chief Reader will compare 2018 rubrics with updated scoring rubrics that will be used at the 2019 Reading, highlighting changes in what is expected of students and in how portfolios will be assessed. Learn how to use the updated rubrics to formatively assess student work, encouraging development throughout the year. Gain understanding of how updated rubrics will be used by Readers to evaluate portfolios. Looking at scored sample portfolios, discuss how students’ art and design and writing aligns with updated portfolio expectations.
