Intercultural competence is the ability to develop targeted knowledge, skills, and attitudes that lead to visible behavior and communication that are both effective and appropriate in intercultural interactions. This session first shares how the presenter linked classroom activities to real-world events to promote the interaction of people from different cultures throughout a year. Then, the presenter showcases a couple of projects that have engaged learners successfully in meaningful and authentic interaction, both orally and in writing with member of other cultures. In addition to examples, participants will explore the technology resources available and how they can be effective in enhancing teaching and instruction. Participants will brainstorm and share their ideas in developing strategies for implementing real-life events into their curriculum at all levels of instruction. The session will conclude with a Q&A period.
