Students and teachers alike often dread the idea of poetry because the common perception is that poetry is too abstract and difficult. In reality, there are many activities and strategies that facilitate the comprehension and analysis of poetry so that everyone can enjoy working with the genre. Participants in this session will experience a variety of activities for working with poetry from the AP Spanish Literature & Culture reading list. The activities will include working with the five essential elements of the AP Spanish Literature & Culture course: Themes, Literary Terms, Characteristics of Genre, Features of Literary Movement or Period, and Contextualization. Handouts including resources and copies of the activities will be provided.
