AP Annual Conference Submission
A unique feature of the AP Statistics exam that sets it apart from other AP exams is the inclusion of an investigative task in the free response section. The purpose of the investigative task is to assess students' statistical reasoning ability by requiring them to integrate statistical concepts across several content areas and apply them in a new context or in a non-routine way. The idea of preparing students to be successful at such a task can seem daunting, especially for teachers who have never taken anything beyond a first course in statistics. The purpose of this session is to provide strategies to help teachers prepare their AP Statistics students to be successful on the investigative task.
