The College Board has developed new resources to support instruction and assessment in the AP Physics 2 course. In this session, participants will examine these resources through the lens of thermodynamics, a challenging topic for teachers and students. This session will begin with the presenter guiding participants through thermodynamics topics within the course Curriculum Framework. To develop an understanding of what can and should be taught and assessed, the science practices, enduring understandings, and learning objectives related to thermodynamics will all be addressed. Participants will then practice scaffolding this content and the science practices as they plan to integrate formative and summative assessments throughout their thermodynamics unit. Through select activities, participants will share best practices and learn instructional strategies and approaches for overall enhanced teaching and learning.
