This fall, updated AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design, and AP Drawing portfolio requirements and assessment rubrics will be implemented to facilitate students’ inquiry-based thinking and making. Portfolio development emphasizes investigation of materials, processes, and ideas through practice, experimentation, and revision. This session offers teaching and learning strategies to support students in excellence with the updated program. Guided by an expert AP teacher and AP community leader, learn the rationale for and benefits of the updates. Practice strategies for helping your students develop questions to guide their sustained investigation, make work that demonstrates skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas, and write effectively about their work – focuses of the portfolio updates. Become familiar with resources for enhancing students’ inquiry-based learning and making. Prepare to make the most of opportunities offered by the updated AP portfolios!
