Formative assessment is a powerful tool, helping teachers (and students!) better understand, track, and evaluate student preparedness, performance, and growth. To be most effective, formative assessment should be ongoing, consistent, and designed in conjunction with thoughtful and complete feedback and data cycles. The key to success is upfront planning and design. In today’s session, we’ll explore how the AP Coordinator at KIPP SF College Prep designed and implemented a successful formative assessment framework to better support students and teachers in preparing for AP exams. Participants will have the opportunity to design their own sample assessment framework and begin thinking about and creating strategies to more effectively use feedback and data in their own AP classroom and across their AP team.
