Attendees will learn about the support program we've created that empowers students to take ownership of their learning and lead peers within the AP program. For many, AP is a daunting an unknown world; we will share how our experienced students serve as guides through the AP program to demystify and promote high-level courses. Attendees will see how our students engage in mentorship with peers who need support accessing new skills and content through systematic tutoring, peer-led breakout sessions, and more. Our AP program centers on a culture that maintains high expectations but offers a nurturing environment, allowing students to take risks, experience growth, and build confidence. We will share the tools, practices, and systems so attendees can consider how to enable their students to serve as leaders. We will consider the current culture of attendees' AP program, identify areas for growth, and strategize for the immediate future with an emphasis on student empowerment.
