Each fall, AP Seniors scramble to find time to hone college admissions applications and essays while keeping up with a rigorous course-load. This workshop encourages AP English teachers to use narrative writing instruction to support AP seniors in the admissions process while fine-tuning writing skills and preparing students for the literature exam. Presenters will define the parameters of the academic, narrative essay, describe how to focus student essays for success, and demonstrate a revision process that eliminates wordiness, yet adds specificity. Not only will writing skills benefit student applicants at the university level, but also these skills will prepare students for the focused, articulate free response questions expected of them on the AP Literature exam.
