While reading comprehension can be difficult for some students, applying the proper strategies can make reading a much more manageable task. In this session, we will explore pre-reading, during reading and post reading strategies. Participants will see the importance of giving the students the opportunity to participate in pre-reading strategies in an effort to build confidence and motivation even before they read the text. Pre-reading is similar to prepping a wall before painting it. During reading strategies can put students at ease as their comprehension increases. I will introduce a 5 step process students can follow while reading. Post reading strategies can push students way up Bloom's Taxonomy. Students will go from simply understanding what they read to applying their knowledge and creating their own ideas based on the text.
