We’ve moved to 1:1 essay conferencing and have discovered a marked improvement in students’ scores as well as student growth in peer critique. Come see what an essay conference looks like and glean how we track student progress to address individual weaknesses in student DBQ and LEQ writing. We've also used the AP Instructional Planning Reports to identify and target the particularly difficult skills of supporting argument with evidence, sourcing, and complex understanding. We will share lessons we use as follow-up to the essay conferences that allow students to hone in on and improve their individual challenges. Once you recognize the merits of essay conferencing, you'll never want to resort to the "red pen" method again. Say goodby to lost weekends of grading essays!
