In the session, participants will engage in a guided close-reading of Randall Jarrell’s seminal piece “The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner” using Three-column Analysis. Participants will then learn to teach students how to use Three-column Analysis to compose creative literary analysis essays. Participants will be guided through the writing process beginning with focus statements, moving to fully developed body paragraphs, and finally to composing creative responses to essay prompts.
