Administrators, teachers, and staff have experienced a surge of new mandates recently. School goals and competing points of focus can be perceived as “another new initiative,” adding to the already burdensome list. Most districts invest an incredible amount of resources supporting AP teachers, but, what about everyone else? An important, often forgotten step in successful AP expansion, is determining strategies that allow ALL teachers and staff to support a growing AP program. This workshop will draw upon the presenters’ experience doubling AP enrollment in two different school districts. Leadership approaches designed to “meet staff where they are” and build towards systemic instructional strategies aligned to AP curricula will be spotlighted throughout the workshop. Purposeful pathways designed to align successful AP growth with improved instruction will also be highlighted. AP can become the fabric of your school, not another duty. We are doing it (again) and you can, too!
