Crossroads College Preparatory School has been engaging students in political action projects over many years. It is useful that it is now also a part of the AP Government curriculum. In this session, three projects will be presented: one engages students in an issue forum around topics specific to their communities, one asks students to address a local community issue or concern with an action plan and implementation schedule, the final project engages students in actual campaign work which is pertinent during election years. Each project is fully designed with learning goals and assessment rubrics. After considering the projects, participants in the session will be asked to brainstorm additional projects or project designs. Each participant should leave with some excellent material to ease the implementation of this new course requirement.
